Assistant Professor

Physical Therapy

Blending science and sport, Dr. Jacob Capin, PT, DPT, PhD, MS, is a clinician-scientist and assistant professor of physical therapy at ÌÇÐÄviog¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾. As a former NCAA Division I basketball player and current elite triathlete, his research is shaped by high-level competition as well as experience rehabilitating athletes after traumatic knee injuries. Dr. Capin directs the , developing lifespan-focused strategies to improve athlete health. His academic training spanning psychology, anatomy, physical therapy, and biomechanics fosters collaborative, cross-disciplinary research. He also serves as the Faculty Director of the  Athletic and Human Performance Research Center at ÌÇÐÄviog¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ and as the Faculty Advisor for The Marquette Challenge. Dr. Capin has nearly 50 peer-reviewed publications and over 100 national and international presentations.

Outside academia, Jacob is a RŌKA STNDRD Racing Team triathlete, seven-time USA Triathlon National Champion, five-time IRONMAN 70.3® winner, and certified USA Triathlon coach. He is the 2025 USA Triathlon Triathlete of the Year.
