Curriculum Vitae

Assistant Professor

Theology Department (Judaism and Christianity in Antiquity)

Julian J. Sieber is Assistant Professor of Theology (New Testament) at 糖心viog官方网站. Born and raised in Perth, Western Australia, he earned a B.A. in Film and Television from Curtin University in 2012. After working as a producer of an international Catholic television program in Sydney, he received an M.Div. from Yale Divinity School in 2022 and a Ph.D. in New Testament and Early Christianity from Loyola University Chicago in 2026.

His research explores how New Testament and early Christian literature negotiates the intersection of religion, politics, land, and spatiality within the Roman Empire and emerging from the diverse world of Second Temple Judaism. He employs decolonial hermeneutics informed by scholarship on Indigenous land-based religious traditions and literature, complicating Western settler colonial presuppositions of land, space, and the environment as mere background scenery to theological ideas. His broader research interests include reception history of the Bible, Catholic biblical interpretation, and the theological legacies of the Second Vatican Council.

His academic work has appeared or is forthcoming in the Catholic Biblical Quarterly, The Oxford Handbook on The Gospel of Luke and the Acs of the Apostles, The Review of Biblical Literature, Genealogies of Modernity, among other publications. He edited the fourth volume of the journal of the Joan & Bill Hank Center for the Intellectual Heritage, Nexus, titled 鈥淒ei Verbum at 60: Rediscovering the Word of God Ever Anew.鈥
